Along with traditional paper-and-pencil questionnaires, we are increasingly carrying out CAPI surveys using laptops. (CAPI = Computer Aided Personal Interviewing). CAPI surveys offer the particular advantage that visual material, even TV adverts, can be integrated into the questionnaire itself and shown to the interviewee on screen. Surveys using notebooks, tablets or most recently handhelds come into their own wherever mobility and time are key factors. As with the Cati lab, the questionnaires can be filtered, rotated, plausibility checked and very rapidly evaluated.
